Gone Forever, My Friend
64Gone Forever, Always Remembered
Many years ago, you were my first neighbor here.
Welcoming my family into the cul-de-sac,
You were so friendly, while the other's kept to themselves.
My children picked up on it right away, just like animals can tell
Who they should not fear.
Outgoing, your love of life was obvious and pure,
Just like the small garden you replanted every year
Gave joy to everyone.
The bright flowers you choose matched your glowing personality,
Every year I waited to see which colors were blooming in the cul-de-sac.
The flowers were a mirror of
What kind of Summer you looked forward to.
The years passed by swiftly,
Many flowers were planted, bloomed, and died.
Our children grew into adults.
We had our traditions in the cul-de-sac,
Fireworks, picnics, running back and fourth in and out of our homes.
Sunday, I sat down to read the Newspaper,
You were on the frontpage!
No picture,
Just a News article. A Woman Died, Alone, Yesterday
In a car accident.
She had crossed the highway and her car had rolled.
Why? You were so young!
I will miss you, my dear friend.
The Summer flowers in the cul-de-sac will never be so bright, again.

Sudden death of a good friend and neighbor cause shock in a small town. Poetry eases the pain, for the time being.

Wow! nice expression.
expecting your comment will you?
Time well spent is never wasted, even though in hindsight one might have wished for a place to capture these most important moments, elusive as they are. A nice piece indeed.
Very touching and endearing piece.
Respect!
okmom23; this is beautiful. I can see that you had great admiration for this person and it flows into your words. Thank you for sharing this part of your life.
A lovely tribute. Keep writing!
A lovely tribute and a sad loss, friends like her do not arrive in our lives every day. I can tell you made the world a better place for her too; by reading your words.
